Spring Theatre

About Our Program

Vermont Commons School produces a play annually; over the years this has included a variety of dramas, comedies, and musicals, and through this production, we offer instruction in acting, choreography, and set design. Through the rehearsal, production and performance of each play, students strengthen their creative, social and intellectual confidence. Recent productions have included Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead, The Crucible, Our Town, and Much Ado About Nothing.

In addition to the annual school play, students develop social and performing confidence in other forums during the school year. Every school day, students attend morning meeting where students volunteer to play instruments, read poetry, or discuss contemporary issues in front of the entire school. Encounter Week offerings during the school year often center around acting, directing, set design and dance. Finally, all students contribute to the “Evening of Readings” each spring, when students read selections from their writing from their English classes with poise, grace and confidence.

Scholarship. Community. Global Responsibility.

At Vermont Commons School, our goal is to engage students with their world. We achieve this through programs and a curriculum grounded in local and global involvement.
