Parent's Association of the Commons School (PACS)
The mission of the Parents' Association (PACS) is to strengthen the partnership between parents and the School through communication and community involvement. The overarching goal of PACS is to facilitate communication between parents and the School while providing opportunities for parents to connect with one another, broaden their understanding of the School, and make positive contributions through their volunteer efforts. Through programs, special events and volunteer efforts, the Parents' Association supports the mission of the School and works to foster the sense of community on which VCS thrives.
Under the leadership of the organization's two chairs, PACS is open to all parents of Vermont Commons School students and will be active in the following areas:
- Community building
- Event planning (community potlucks, etc.)
- Quarterly newsletter highlighting the work of PACS and the School
- New family mentoring program in which new families are given contact information of a returning family, preferably in their town, to ask questions of, carpool with, help the transition to VCS.
- Fundraising
- Develop and carry out one large fundraising event each semester
- Help with annual fund
- Volunteerism
- Offering transportation for sports, encounter weeks, field trips
- Sharing areas of expertise with classes
- Organizing work weekends
