Brief Biography

I believe that the point of life is to strive for social change. Teaching Spanish at Vermont Commons gives me the opportunity to expose students to the struggles of other peoples and cultures, through the understanding of their language. I believe that truly speaking a second language is to see the world through the lenses not visible to monolinguists. My teaching is informed by years of living in both rural and urban settings in Guatemala, Peru, and Mexico, as well as by a history of experience in alternative forms of education.

Scholarship. Community. Global Responsibility.

Students emerge from their time at Vermont Commons School intrinsically motivated to seek out their role for improving the world, with the skills and competencies to do so.
