Other

I completed a three-year stint at a great "little" public school—BFA Fairfax. Prior to that, I participated in the Teaching Apprenticeship Program to fulfill licensure requirements by peer review, where I student-taught at a "big" school—Essex High School.

From 1994 – 2002, I was employed at Goodrich Aerospace and Advantest America in various capacities: as an engineer (with stints in manufacturing and recruiting), marketing communications specialist, and sales account manager.

Activities

For all four year I was a clarinetist in the Cornell Wind Ensemble, Chamber Winds and Symphonic Band; for a summer I was a teaching assistant for summer math classes for incoming freshmen.

Best VCS moment

I thought doing last fall’s Dix Mountain Encounter Week couldn’t be topped! However, seeing the excitement on the faces of students as they took their first flight in a 2-seater Piper Cub during “Aviation Week” has been the best so far. Encounter Weeks are when you really get to see the students as real people and to know that I helped create a great moment for them is priceless.

Interests and Hobbies

I love training for and racing in triathlons and running races of all distances: from 5k’s to the ironman. I’m also trying to do a race in every state (13 so far with Arizona finished this spring!). I’m lucky in that my husband, Steve, and I like to do this stuff together. This past July, he completed his first ironman in Lake Placid and it was great being there with our friends and families to support him.

When the nights get long I like to cross-stitch, read mysteries, and watch way too much American Idol.

I moved to Vermont 12 years ago for my first job out of college. Vermont wasn’t unfamiliar to me as my family traveled from New Jersey for vacations almost every year (and still do). However, I never thought I’d stay here!! But Vermont has a way of making people drop their excess baggage at the border and I enjoy that freedom far too much to live anywhere else.

My husband, Steve, is self-employed as a graphic designer (Kindred Design) and has lived in Vermont since he was a child. We enjoy training and racing together, hiking, traveling, dining out, and gardening at our house in Hinesburg. Between our friends and family who live in the area we’re never at a loss for things to do. We have Koda, a bull-mastiff/tosa mix, as our furry friend. We are also expecting our first child late January 2008.
