Best V.C.S. Moment

Playing the most intense capture the flag game I have ever participated in during our "rest day" on the 2007 winter Yurt trip. There was deep snow, thick woods, and heavy winter boots. By the end of the day we were soaked, cold and tired, but all of us were smiling.

Quotation that gives you inspiration

"What's the use of a fine house if you haven't got a tolerable planet to put it on?" -Henry David Thoreau

Interests and Hobbies

Hiking, rock and ice climbing, traveling, fishing with my brother and father, reading, watching movies, relaxing, talking and listening to people.

I grew up near Lowell Massachusetts in a town called Westford where I enjoyed playing soccer and baseball. I frequently traveled with my family to go skiing somewhere cold or swimming somewhere warm. I owe my love of the outdoors largely to my brother who taught me to climb and hike. During the summers, my family would head to the sandy shores of Cape Cod where I worked on a fishing boat with my father and brother and where my entire family would spend glorious days at the beach. I went to the local high school in Westford, where I had some incredible classes with teachers who inspired a keen sense for social justice in me.

After high school, I went to Saint Michael's college, a place where both my love of the outdoors and my penchant for activism were given the chance to develop and flourish. I co-founded the environmental club (Green UP SMC) during my freshman year, and throughout my four years watched as what started as a club turned into an organization involving faculty, staff and students working together to make the St. Mike's a more sustainable place.
