Financial Aid
Comprehensive Fee $18,000 for the 2009-10 academic year
The comprehensive fee is for the entire academic year and covers support systems that are part of the Vermont Commons School program. A Textbook and Activities Fee of $1,130 is charged for the purchase of textbooks and supplies, school related trips and activities. Encounter Week programs involving national or international travel, any special services requested, or individually designed activities such as music lessons are not included in the Comprehensive Fee.
As noted, the Comprehensive Fee is for the entire academic year, and, regardless of the method of payment, parents or guardians are obligated for payment of the full amount of the fee. An enrollment contract will be forwarded to parents or guardians upon acceptance of the applicant.
Deposit: Within 20 days of acceptance to the school, Vermont Commons requires a deposit from newly admitted students to secure a space for the applicant. The deposit is not refundable after May 1st. The deposit is applied to the Comprehensive Fee.
Financial Aid
It is our intent that the Vermont Commons student body be broadly representative of the community-at-large. The Financial Aid program is intended to help us accomplish this goal. During the 2008-09 academic year, the school awarded financial aid to approximately 25% of the student body. Families who anticipate requesting financial assistance should apply at the time they submit their admissions application. All financial aid families are required to complete the Parents Financial Statement through the School and Students Service for Financial Aid and provide the 1040 tax form for the current year. All materials are required by March 27, 2009. Families may apply on line by going to https://sss.ets.org/ Applicants for financial aid after March 27, 2009 should complete all forms as quickly as possible as the financial aid pool is limited.
