The Green School
In our classes we often grapple with the 'big picture' issues of pollution and over-consumption of resources. However, we sometimes lose sight of what we individually contribute on a daily basis to environmental problems. How can we alter our own mentality and behaviors to make recycling a top priority at our school? What can we improve here on the school grounds to model better what we are so passionate about in the classroom and out on encounter weeks? In this class we created an Ecofootprint of the school; that is, a schematic model that demonstrates or measures our impact on the environment. The goal was to make this as comprehensive as possible, and then from that information we planned a series of projects that helped reduce our impact on the environment.
