Humane Society of Chittenden County

Working closely with the Humane Society of Chittenden County (HSCC), our service component was almost strictly on-site at their South Burlington location. A large portion of our work was hands-on weekly maintenance of their facility and infrastructure, as well as work with animals. Students used the VCS website as a means to encourage donations to HSCC and encourage adoptions as 'Animal Ambassadors'. Academic content of the course included the following: life history & domestication of mammals, pet abandonment, feral animals, abuse & neglect, disease, Mall 'puppy mills', the history of the Humane Society and other organizations, and funding for NPOs.
